Ashton212 Client Dan Costello Receives Bay Area Award

Posted 4 years 78 days ago by Gretchen Hirsch

On April 9, 2014, the Community Housing Partnership (CHP), the only San Francisco nonprofit organization exclusively dedicated to providing permanent, supportive housing to formerly homeless individuals and families, held its Night with the Stars at the SFJAZZ Center. Ashton212’s client, Dan Costello, was honored as one CHP’s Building Together Award winners.

Each year, CHP recognizes three individuals or organizations that have worked closely with them to assist in creating solutions to homelessness. Dan and his team at Farallone Pacific Insurance Services were unanimously selected by CHP’s management and singled out as exceptional advocates for the organization’s mission and tenants. Farallone Pacific was specifically acknowledged for the key role Dan played in helping with CHP’s 5th Street Apartments for Transitional Age Youth.

Opened in late 2013, the 5th Street Apartments, consisting of 44 units, are located in the South of Market neighborhood. Residents share bathrooms and a community kitchen. The apartments include a community room, rooftop deck, support service offices, and a laundry room. A Training and Development Center for CHP clients is in the planning stages and will be located on the ground floor. This center will provide an intensive workforce development program for residents aged 18 to 25 who are homeless or at high risk of becoming homeless.

“We spent hours with the San Francisco city government and social services officials and representatives and other funders to garner the necessary insurance to get this project done,” Dan says about his work with CHP. “The effort speaks to how big things get done when everyone is focused on and energized by the end goal … housing for young people who will benefit from a community of peers and professionals who embrace them.”

A Company-Wide Dedication to Service

Dan is the President and Partner of Farallone Pacific Insurance Services, a Bay Area firm whose mission is to simplify the complexities of insurance, no matter what. Insurance Simplified is not only their identity line, but it’s also the way they think and work every day as they help their clients make the best decisions about their coverages, thus freeing them to concentrate on their work, families, and lives.

Team members at Farallone Pacific are active volunteers. With paid time off to make a difference in the lives of others, the company’s associates have had a significant impact on thousands of residents in their communities, and Farallone Pacific frequently is recognized for its efforts in volunteerism and community building. To encourage their clients to achieve their giving goals, Farallone Pacific Gives was launched in 2011 as an easy way for nonprofit organizations and schools to generate more funds. In 2005, Farallone Pacific became the North Bay’s first green-certified insurance agency by adopting eco-friendly principles, policies and practices.

“Farallone Pacific became a client in 2011 with my first firm, Flyin’ West. When Ashton212 was established in early 2012, I was delighted that Dan chose to continue working with us for his marketing services, which expanded last year to include a rebranding of the firm. Dan and his business partner, Peter Schmale, have created an environment of giving, rich with commitment, energy, and passion. Two members of the marketing team supporting Farallone Pacific joined me on April 9 to celebrate Dan’s well-deserved award. It was truly a Night with the Stars … in every way,” said Sheila Lewis, Ashton212 CEO. “We are delighted to congratulate Dan and the entire Farallone Pacific family.”
