In doing so, FWSF is encouraging all women to join in efforts underway globally to create a tidal wave of change toward achieving a mindset of gender parity. This half-day program will explore the challenges that women, particularly in finance, address as they work toward building successful careers.

Kathy Wheadon (top right), FWSF Vice President, shares that her goal for this program is to, “provide attendees with ideas, tool and vision to identify and reduce gender bias in the workplace.” As a perfect example of one who has charted a successful career in finance, Kathy is the Senior Vice President, Operations and Client Service at Jordan Park Group. Of her own career, Kathy says, “I feel fortunate to have enjoyed the support of a champion early in my career who encouraged me to fully engage and achieve success beyond my wildest dreams.”

FWSF has attracted women of great accomplishment who have, in their own way, overcome myriad challenges throughout their careers. The afternoon will kick off with a fireside chat with Carrie Schwab-Pomerantz, Chair & President of Charles Schwab Foundation and Debbie Messemer, Managing Partner of KPMG Bay Area Market.

Later in the afternoon, attendees will participate in a series of roundtable discussions on topics relevant in today’s workplace. The afternoon will conclude with a panel where a diverse group of women leaders who will bring perspective and dimension to a conversation about their professional and personal challenges and achievements.  Panelists include: Carolina Nunez, Vice President, Regional News Director for Univision in Northern California; Helen Russell, CEO & Co-Founder of Equator Coffee, Kathleen Dunlap, former CEO of Girls Who Invest, and Dianne Sandoval, Investment Manager, Asset Allocation and Risk Management, CalPERS. For more than 30 years, Dr. Barbara Mark (bottom right), one of FWSF’s International Women’s Day Planning Committee members, has provided customized coaching, career and life strategies to executive women who are in the prime of their lives, and careers. She shares that, “One of the reasons programs like this are important is because we all encounter great opportunities and challenging obstacles in the course of our lives and careers. To be inspired by and get tips from other women is a great gift.”
